In a short period, the CUAM China – Hong Kong Strategy Fund established itself as one of the best performing Greater Chinese Equities Funds. 

The Fund has achieved rapid growth on the back of its strong performance versus its peers and targets investors with a higher risk profile and tolerance for volatility.  The investment process is fundamentals driven, leveraging expert fund managers' stock picking and an extensive research resource from one of China's most established fund managers.  Focus is on strong conviction, high concentration strategy, and relatively short holding target horizon of 12 months.

The embedded risk management process has delivered good results to date and consistently using sector rotation and dynamic portfolio re-balancing. The Fund has faced less drawdown than its peers in recent corrections. Yet, we note that this remains a risk due to potential elevated Fund volatility from high portfolio concentration.

While ESG is less established in China than other markets, CUAM has been taking steps in this direction, incorporating ESG ratings in its research and establishing an ESG Committee.  ESG ratings are expected to improve going forward, and stewardship efforts to become more developed.

The Fund has outperformed its peers on both a three and five-year basis, with +301 basis points on a 3Y annualized net return above its stated benchmark.
