The Nomura Taiwan Small Cap Fund has delivered consistent outperformance for close to two decades investing in Taiwanese small and mid-cap equities.

The Manager articulated a transparent methodology and structure for portfolio construction and risk management. A sectoral approach is taken with the investment team, dividing coverage by industry and manager expertise to cover 400 listed companies for review and in-depth research. When investment recommendations are made, these are reviewed and cross-checked for peer review to confirm and approve any investment. Portfolio company revenues are monitored monthly and quarterly for any change to fundamental view or significant event with implications for the stock outlook. Preference is not to trade core holdings during times of market volatility and retain portfolio conviction.

Each analyst covers less than 50 stocks, suggesting a well-resourced team, although turnover had edged up to 5-10% in the past year. Performance remuneration and the entire disclosure of company information are fulfilled by the investment's responsibility due diligence. The strategy takes 65-79% of the considerations of environmental, social, and corporate governance impact.

The fund has delivered an excellent performance with net returns of more than 300 basis points above the benchmark on a 1Y, 3Y, 5Y, and 10Y period.
